Pollution remediation
Cutting edge equipment to combat all risks.
The experience of people and the technical nature of machines combine to make environmental protection a daily mission.
The teams of the BOURBON coastline protection Activity have acquired perfect mastery of pollution control, techniques for recovering surface pollution and responses to damaged tanks.
The vessels are equipped with the latest modern anti-pollution techniques: tanks of dispersants, pumps, floating booms, etc. They can also guarantee their environmental protection mission under the best conditions seven days a week, around-the-clock.
Both tugs, the Abeille Bourbon and the Abeille Liberté, are equipped for fire-fighting. They are FiFi 2 (Fire Fighting class 2) classified, i.e. equipped with water canons that can spray 8,400 m3 an hour at more than 100 meters, with water curtains around the tug as protection.
The Argonaute, the Ailette and the Alcyon are also equipped for fire-fighting.
Efficient operations
Les Abeilles, the Argonaute, the Alcyon and the Ailette handle the coordination of all the operations necessary for efficient pollution control:
- installation of floating booms,
- spreading dispersant,
- pumping out fuel remaining in the holds,
- draining the fuels to a recovery center,
- cleaning of water surface by separator and treatment in settling tanks,
- removal of hazardous materials on board that pose a threat of being spilled at sea
Priorities
Listening to and satisfying clients is the daily challenge for BOURBON’s women and men. It relies on 4 priorities:
